In primary 2 Maths on Volume, students learn:
- about the concept of volume
- measuring volume in litres
- comparing and ordering volumes in litres
What is volume
Volume is the amount of space occupied by an object in the 3- dimensional space. We use volume for 3D figures (e.g. cubes, spheres, etc.). 2D shapes such as circles, triangles do not have volume.
Measuring volume in litres
There are many units used for measuring volume. Students start off by learning to measure volume in litres. Litres have a symbol of l.
Comparing and ordering volumes in litres
Students learn to compare different volumes. The bigger the volume in litres (or l), the larger the volume. E.g. 5l has a greater volume than 3l.
