Picture Graphs - Primary 2

In primary 2, students learn more about picture graphs. You can read more on what's tested in primary 1 picture graphs here.

In primary 2 Math topic on picture graphs, each symbol in the picture graph could representing more than 1 unit. Students would need to use the multiplication tables learnt earlier this year to answer such questions.

For instance, the picture graph below shows the number of students who like each sports.

Number of students who like each sport

In this picture graph, each symbol represents 5 students. Typical questions asked for picture graphs include:

Q: How many students like basketball

A: Since there are 4 circles for students who like basketball in the above picture graph, the number of students who like basketball =  4 x 5 or 20.

Q: How many more students like tennis than soccer?

Since there are 1 more circle for tennis than soccer in the above picture graph, there are 5 (1 x 5 = 5) more students who like tennis more than soccer.
